Thank you for the great info. Tried the reset it worked for around 4 seconds then it would fail again. Tried a few more times same result. Took it apart and pulled out the short HDMI cable. It looked fine. Blew out the inside of the unit and the cable connections. Reconnected the cable turned the unit on and it's working now. Thank you again.
I assume you are aware that it will still flash orange after a reset ( 5 to 10 secs) Enable Bluetooth on your phone, open Xiaomi Home app and see if it picks up the Repeater 2 - will have blue led when connected.
